Maruwa [Lobster Theremin / Steel City Dance Discs]

A fresh-faced Maruwa from Saint-Petersburg surfaces with a breakbeat, house, acid and techno sound that sees the young and emerging act establish her place within an exciting new movement for rave and retro-active club fusions.

Having marked her territory running the gamut of Saint-Petersburg venues – Warrp, RAF25, Blank, Golicin Hall, КПД and Stackenschneider – to Mutabor in Moscow, Maruwa’s international career has seen her gigs stretch to Rye Wax in South London, Listen Festival 2022 in Belgium to Oxi in Berlin.

Bringing a ‘90s Russian rave inspiration to her set, Maruwa draws from impressionist piano and hardcore rave keys to trance, drum & bass and IDM atmospheres. With her own music finding a home next to Skream on Steel City Dance Discs – and later Lobster Theremin with the On My Mind EP – Maruwa’s DJ highlights include a label of the month mix for Lobster Theremin, and a Rinse FM France session via Paradygme.

Now based in Frankfurt, Germany, Maruwa’s entry to mainland Europe sees her as an exciting new prospect within a colourful, vibrant and explosive new scene.
